Art Visit #1
Study for Le Chahut by George Seurat
Oil Canvas, 1889
This piece made such an impression on me as from standing far away I was able to see a uniform painting. When I walked up closer I saw that the whole painting was made up of little dots. It amazed me as it must take careful planning and precision with each of the individual dots.
Untitled (Fold) by Tauba Auerbach
Acrylic on Canvas, 2012
Out of all the artwork in the museum, this piece was my ultimate favorite. I loved this piece for the #-D affect it gave. When I first looked at it I thought it was fabric folded and creased on the wall. I thought it looked interesting and even walked closer and still thought it was some type of fabric. I literally had to walk up and put my head next to the side of the painting to realize it was a painting. This painting had me completely fooled and I loved that this artist was able to do that. I stared at this painting the longest because I was so impressed by it, and my mind didn't want to believe it was completely flat.
Two Girls at the Farm by Justine Kurland
Color Print, 2002
I felt a connection with this photo because of how peaceful and tranquil it feels. These girls are at such a beautiful lake and it gives you a sense of happiness. The reason I was connected with this is because every year I look forward to going to my Grandma's land at a lake. I love going there to get away from everything as all my stress seems to melt away. I felt this feeling while looking at this photo and I liked the feeling it gave me.
Dinamismo di un Cane el Guinzaglio by Giacomo Balla
(Dynamism of a Dog on a Leash)
Oil on Canvas, 1871
I felt a connection with this photo because I had a dog that I remembered as soon as I put her on a leash she would start running. Being outside excited her so much that she couldn't contain her excitement and our "walks" became runs. The way the dog is portrayed in this painting is quick movement and the person next to them has to move the same speed just to keep up. I really enjoyed this painting because it brought me back into that moment, which is very special to me.
La Source de la Loue by Gustave Courbet
Oil Canvas, 1864
I would like to learn more about this painting because it gives you a sense of fear. The unknown makes you feel uncomfortable while looking at it. I almost felt that if I stared at it long enough that I would see something crawling out. I am very curious what this artist was thinking while painting this. I want to know what the cave represents and the ultimate meaning of it. This is a painting I surely would not want hanging on my wall.
The Yellow Christ by Paul Gaguin
Oil on Canvas, 1889
I would definitely like to learn more about this painting. Everything in this painting seemed normal up until you notice that Jesus is a vibrant yellow color. I looked at it with such confusion because I didn't understand why instead of using a normal skin tone he chose yellow. It made me wonder if he wanted to represent sickness or of that sort. I would really like to learn more about this piece because an explanation is definitely needed to help me understand this one.

Very nice choices. I had to smile when I seen the picture of the dog because I thought of our Dorkie (Yorkie/Daschaund) mix because as soon as we grab the leash he is ready to go. I of course read the reason you liked the picture and laughed again.
